The Reede Scholars, Inc Response to the Dobbs Decision

On June 24, 2022, the Dobbs v. Jackson decision changed the landscape of reproductive healthcare in this country.  Reversing Roe v Wade, which the constitutional protection of abortion services, an essential component to comprehensive healthcare, challenges both bodily autonomy and the physician-patient relationship.  As we know, marginalized women face lack of access to preventive services, contraception and increased risk for complications during pregnancy and death related to pregnancy.  With some states severely legislating against exception for rape, incest, life-threatening life conditions or lethal fetal anomalies, which further erodes a pregnant person’s privacy to make personal decisions and clinicians’ expertise in science and medicine to appropriate counsel their patient.

The Reede Scholars, Inc. stand with other national health facing organizations committed to health equity.  We support members, the communities we serve, and all those who continue to challenge the laws and regulations that interfere with patient care and prevent access to essential, comprehensive and evidence-based care.
