View a video about the Reede Scholars
The Reede Scholars are group of health care professionals including physicians, psychiatrists, psychologists and dentists who have completed a health policy fellowship program at Harvard University funded by the Commonwealth Fund, California Endowment, and the Joseph L. Henry Oral Health Program. Scholars hold positions in key areas of health care services throughout the nation. Our interests have focused on improving health care for the various populations we serve, as well as addressing issues of social justice and social determinants of health. Without the generous funding by the Commonwealth Fund, The California Endowment and Delta Dental of Massachusetts, and the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), this network of leaders would not have been possible.
The Reede Scholars have chosen to name their alumni organization after the creator and mentor of this program, Dr. Joan Y. Reede. A pioneer in efforts to improve the representation of ethnic minorities in health services careers, Dr. Reede has served as an inspiration for thousands of students seeking to make a difference in the health of their communities. The Reede Scholars hope to honor her work by continuing the legacy of achievement in minority health.
Our Mission
Our mission is to combine the unique talents and experience of our alumni to improve the health and well-being of underserved populations and racial/ethnic minorities through educations, research, policy and practice.
